South Wales truck dealer Euro Commercials has officially completed the acquisition of City West Commercials, in a move which sees it expand its business across the Welsh border into the South West of England

The acquisition sees Euro Commercials - which has dealerships in Cardiff, Newport, and Swansea - take over City West Commercials’ sites in Avonmouth, Exeter and Highbridge.

Both companies are independent Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealerships and the deal creates one of the largest privately-owned Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealership groups in the UK.

Euro Commercials’ leadership team, led by managing director Jeff Carne and finance director Andrew Hole, will oversee the integration of the two businesses and drive forward the continued growth of the combined business under the Euro Commercials banner.

With combined revenues expected to exceed £150m, the group said it is well positioned for further growth. It added that the deal reflects the growing trend towards consolidation in the UK automotive dealership sector, driven in part by regional operators looking to scale their operations through strategic acquisitions.

All three City West Commercial sites will be rebranded, with Euro Commercials pledging that operations at all three locations will remain ”mostly unchanged”, to ensure continuity for customers.

Euro Commercials said: “This expansion represents Euro Commercials’ commitment to Daimler Truck and Mercedes Benz Vans here in the UK.

“Our passion, values and commitment to customer excellence will now extend further afield, as we build on our historical success and drive forward into a new exciting era for van and truck customers in South Wales and the South West.”

The company also revealed that the former City West Commercials site at Roche in Cornwall was not included in the acquisition and was closed on 30 May.

To ensure customers service continuity in the Cornwall area, Daimler Truck has appointed Redruth-based ETS Truck and Van to cover customer service, aftersales support and additional workshop support.

This service will include access to technical support, warranty services and Mercedes-Benz Genuine Parts and oils, plus 24/7 breakdown coverage.

In addition, the existing Service24h breakdown support covering all of Devon and Cornwall will be provided by the Mercedes-Benz Trucks facility in Exeter.

Heiko Selzam, Daimler Truck UK managing director, said: “The outstanding efforts of the Euro Commercials team in transforming its business into a high-performing operation, along with their strong organic growth in Wales, align seamlessly with our vision to evolve the dealer network into a model that is both sustainable and future-ready.

“This marks a significant milestone in strengthening our presence in the South West of England and reinforces our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our customers, while consistently upholding the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction across our operations.”

Leonhard Niemann, Daimler Truck UK head of network development and training, added: “Euro Commercials’ dedication to truck excellence perfectly complements Daimler Truck’s vision for the future. Together, this partnership enhances our capacity to deliver industry-leading products, services, and innovations to support our customers across the UK.

“We are focused on delivering a higher standard of support for our customers in the South West. The Roche closure will be seamlessly covered by our trusted partner ETS Truck & Van which will continue to provide workshop and mobile technician support for our customers.”

Jeff Carne, Euro Commercials managing director, commented: “We are extremely proud to have acquired our neighbouring dealer, City West Commercials (CWC), marking an exciting new chapter for our business and the community we will now serve in the South West.

“We see this strategic acquisition as being a fantastic opportunity for growth of our business, to expand our presence in the market and to strengthen our customer relationships.

“We believe that by combining the strengths of both dealerships we will be better positioned to offer the exceptional service levels that our customers have come to expect, across a wider geographic territory.

“We look forward to welcoming the team from CWC into the Euro Commercials family, to aligning our values and creating positive experiences. We are genuinely excited to see what we can achieve together over the coming months and years.”

The corporate finance team at Dow Schofield Watts (DSW) in Cardiff acted as lead advisor to Euro Commercials, providing corporate finance, negotiation, and transaction management support. The deal team was led by Koo Aseeley, with the support of Benjamin Nix.

Legal advice for Euro Commercials was provided by Alex Butler and Jamie East of Geldards Law. Financial due diligence was provided by Barford Owen Davies, with tax due diligence provided by Claritas Tax.

Koo Aseeley, partner at Dow Schofield Watts, said: “This deal allows a high-performing, customer-focused business to expand into an exciting geography. It’s a rare opportunity to create scale and strategic advantage in a specialist sector, and we’re proud to have supported Euro Commercials in a transaction that sets the platform for continued long-term growth.”
