Dennis Eagle has opened a service centre in Chester-le-Street amid what it said was growing demand for its refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) in the North East.
The Durham service centre is located on the Drum industrial estate and has an eight-bay workshop equipped to support all of the RCVs and equipment manufactured by Dennis Eagle and Terberg Matec UK.
Its facility offers routine inspections, MOTs and preventative maintenance, as well as LOLER inspections, major repairs and complete refurbs.
Aftermarket director Geoff Rigg said: “Across the North East, the demand for Dennis Eagle RCVs is only increasing.
“Durham is the ideal, well-connected location from which our expert engineers can support our valued customers.
“The new service centre reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality, technical aftermarket support.
“Our team of highly trained engineers is primed to assist our independent and local authority customers, including Durham County Council and Northumberland County Council, to ensure their equipment continues to work safely and productively, maximising operational efficiency and vehicle uptime.”
The company already has an established history with the area, having had a specialist centre for the repair and refurbishment of Dennis fire engines in Bowburn near Durham.
To mark this local connection, it said a 1975 Dennis ‘D Series’ fire engine and a 1989 Dennis Delta RCV would be at the service centre during its inauguration.
“Our heritage in Durham dates back to the 1900s when the local team provided aftermarket support for Dennis Specialist Vehicles and Dennis Eagle,” Rigg added.
“Dennis manufactured fire engines from 1908, with the final vehicle rolling off the production line in 2007.
“It’s fantastic to renew Durham’s connection with today’s Dennis Eagle product portfolio and continue this history of providing specialist technical support in the area.”
Due to its location, the Chester-le-Street Service Centre will also become a regional training centre.
