Chippenham Pit Stop has addded another 63 secure HGV parking spaces, as part of a £2m investment to enhance the truck stop’s facilities and security.
The new and improved Chippenham Pit Stop, which was partly funded by National Highways as part of a wider programme to reduce roadside parking and increase driver welfare, was officially opened at a grand ribbon-cutting event last week.
As part of the upgrade, SNAP Access and Security has installed industry-specific security technology to enhance safety and efficiency at the site, including ANPR technology, high-definition CCTV, and a robust barrier entry system.
SNAP, which provides intelligent security solutions for the haulage sector, has also integrated its newly developed bookable technology into the site, enabling drivers to book their parking at Chippenham and guarantee a space.
A trio of SNAP staff attended the opening event, includingMatthew Bellamy, managing director, Lisa McIntyre, head of commercial UK, and Ben Sheldrake, head of commercial access security.
Sheldrake said: “Our mission is to make business premises safer and more efficient for drivers.
“Integrating our security solutions at Chippenham Pit Stop ensures that drivers have access to a facility where they can rest confidently.”
Bellamy praised the work to improve truck parking across the UK.
“Truck drivers are the backbone of our economy, and it’s vital they have safe, secure, and reliable places to rest,” he said.
“National Highways’ investment in improving truck parking areas, such as Chippenham Pit Stop, is a crucial step forward.
“By integrating advanced security solutions and bookable technology, we are making these sites safer and more efficient for drivers and operators alike,” he added.
