Staveley, Chesterfield tanker operator Hopkinson Transport has been acquired by Norbert Dentressangle.
Established in 1987, the hitherto family-owned firm specialises in the storage and transport of bulk powder and PVC resin, operating a fleet of 25 vehicles from Staveley and a second site at Newton Aycliffe. It employs a total of 34 drivers, warehouse and administration staff and has an annual turnover of £4m.
Ann Dawson, MD of ND’s tankers division, said the acquisition would help it develop its presence in the bulk polymer distribution and added value logistics services markets, adding that there was a “strong fit” between the two firms’ customer bases and operations.
ND Tankers already runs a 500-strong specialist tanker fleet.
Hopkinson Transport MD Mark Bingham will join ND Tankers’ commercial team as part of the deal.
Bingham himself was unavailable for comment.
