The Highways Agency has renewed a contract with Norbert Dentressangle to manage the storage and distribution of goods in support of road repairs and maintenance throughout the country.
The contract, which ND originally won in 2009 and has now been extended to 2015, is serviced from a 100,000ft² area at the firm’s shared-user site in Telford. It involves storing some 1,500 SKUs, from matrix signs to nuts and bolts, and delivering them either to the agency’s regional maintenance contractors or direct to roadside projects.
The Highways Agency has also recently extended ND’s remit to carry out consolidation of its stock of roadside gantries. ND has been collecting the 8-tonne gantries from a number of previous storage facilities and integrating them into its existing national storage and distribution operation. The 3PL is now providing an additional 50,000ft² of space at its shared user facility in West Hallam to accommodate the gantries.
• ND has taken delivery of 13 new Renault trucks on a five-year repair and maintenance contract with contract hire specialist BRS. The five Premium 270.18 4x2 rigids, five Midlum 270.18s and three Midlum 180.08s have all been supplied with Optitronic automated gearboxes. They will be used on ND’s contract with electrical and electronic equipment manufacturer Mitsubishi Electric for nationwide, multi-drop, next-day distribution.
