Hermes has taken on a 47,000ft² depot near Liverpool, as part of its ongoing investment in its network and capacity.

A spokeswoman for the parcel carrier confirmed that it would move into the depot, which is situated on the Trio Knowsley Industrial Park in Knowsley, near Liverpool, this year.

Plans for the depot, along with new sites in Bridgwater and Enfield, were unveiled in 2013, all are scheduled to be operational this year.

Last month the operator opened its £14m, 160,000ft² hub in Warrington, giving it enough additional capacity to allow the business to grow.

The company has received authorisation for 28 vehicles and two trailers at the Knowsley site.
