Hermes has teamed up with ByBox to offer a parcel locker delivery and collection service for SMEs and online retailers.
The carrier will launch the service with 100 drop-off and pick up points across the UK, with hopes to increase the number of lockers to 250 by the end of 2013.
The lockers will be maintained by ByBox, which has already had other carriers including La Poste and Flying Cargo Express, a division of FedEx in Israel, making us of its lockers in the UK.
ByBox chief executive Stuart Miller said: “The market has forever talked about collaboration, but this is the first time a true collaboration will deliver a simple point of integration to access the best parcel shops, parcel lockers and couriers.
"We are looking forward to a positive market reaction and building on the relationship.”
Hermes CFO Rob Edison said the lockers will complement its network of parcel shops and doorstep courier collection service, which are already in operation.
Earlier this year, Polish firm InPost rolled-out a parcel locker service in the UK with plans to introduce 2,000 lockers nationwide by the end of 2013.
