Oldham-based H&B Logistics is celebrating 30 years in business by expanding its fleet and improving its facilities, backed by £131,000 of funding.
The funding, via asset finance provider Lombard, has been used to boost H&B’s 40-strong fleet with two double deck trailers and two 44-tonne articulating trucks. It has also helped the family firm expand its facilities at the Westwood Business Park in Chadderton by 30,000sq ft, to meet expanding volumes.
H&B, which was founded in 1989 by joint MDs Alan Byrne and Nick Hall, moves up to 17,000 pallets a month and employs almost 40 staff. It moved its headquarters to Westwood Business park in 2014.
Hall said: “The structural investment has been necessary because of the phenomenal growth we have seen – we have doubled our capacity by moving here and now we are having to expand again to manage volumes.”
Byrne said the finance package with Lombard was crucial to allowing the company to expand its fleet and facilities to meet increased demand.
He added: “Looking forward to next year, we want to continue to expand both our fleet and the premises that we operate from, ensuring that we remain a family-run business helping other local businesses meet demands and needs.”
Jackie Grundy, Lombard senior relationship manager added: “This latest funding facility is part of our ongoing commitment to support H&B Logistics with its growth. It’s an established family-run business that is expanding rapidly while remaining conscious of its environmental footprint and ensuring all its vehicle are compliant with the highest industry standards.”
