A company set up by Ealing Council is now undertaking waste and recyclable collections after ordering 32 Mercedes-Benz Econics.
Greener Ealing took over from the London council’s previous contractor following a strategic review and its fleet of 26-tonne, 6x2 refuse vehicles have attracted the maximum five stars from Transport for London’s Direct Vision Scheme.
As well as panoramic windscreens and full-height glazed folding side doors, safety is further enhanced with a 360-degree camera systems, as well as Mercedes-Benz’s emergency braking technology.
Mick Aherne, Greener Ealing senior fleet & compliance manager, said: “The Econic is very popular with our crews, thanks not least to its roomy, air-conditioned cab, and the full air suspension that contributes to ride comfort.
“It’s also a product that our technicians already know well, and this can only further enhance its proven reliability.”
