FTA and Everywoman have joined forces to create a year-round programme of activity that operators can adopt to help them attract, retain and develop female employees.
Launched today (8 March) to coincide with International Women’s Day, the FTA Everywoman Accelerate Programme incorporates Everywoman's range of services into three packages - Founder, Champion and Influencer.
Each package includes access to the EverywomanNetwork – an online personal development tool – and the Everywoman Club, where senior level women can connect and share best practice.
“With the ageing workforce exacerbating the challenge of an already weak supply chain of talent, no logistics company can afford to be undervaluing or under-using the talents of 50% of the workforce: women,” said Everywoman co-founder Maxine Benson.
Asda and TNT have signed up to the top level Founder package. Jill Clark, head of distribution people at Asda, told MT: “We are committed to providing a framework for supporting the development of female talent in Asda.
“Developing and nurturing the talent of our female colleagues not only gives them the encouragement and support to fulfil their ambitions, we hope it will encourage more women to consider it as a viable career choice.”
Alistair Cochrane, MD of TNT Express UK & Ireland, added: “TNT plays an active role in educating young people through comprehensive partnerships with schools and Business in the Community to highlight the diverse career opportunities available in the transport and logistics industry.
"We fully support the FTA Everywoman Accelerate Programme."
