Palletways has appointed a former TNT UK manager to head up its Oxford operation, as activity at its new Abingdon site gets underway.
The new 46,000ft2 facility is three times the size of Palletways Oxford’s former Didcot site, and can process up to 500 pallets a day.
Its new general manager, Greg Birt, has 27 years of industry experience, including work as a general manager at TNT UK and, most recently, as the head of compliance at Yodel.
Birt said he looked forward to growing the Palletways business form the new Oxford depot.
“We have already started to integrate a new tender process for renewing our vehicles to provide a one-stop shop for all our maintenance and servicing needs,” he added.
Palletways network director Barry Byers added: “We’re thrilled to have Greg on board.
“He has a wealth of experience which will be extremely advantageous to our member network and the customers we serve. The team at Palletways wish him a warm welcome,” he added.
Last week Palletways UK named Dave Walmsley as its new MD after a management shake-up which saw former UK MD Luis Zubialde assume the role of chief operating officer of Palletways Group.
The restructure also saw former Palletways Europe MD Rachael Alpha become group commercial director. She replaced Wolfgang Neumann, who will continue at the business in a part-time consultancy role.
