Charles Wilson, the former chief executive of food wholesaler Booker, has acquired a significant minority shareholding in Menzies Distribution and joined the board as a non-executive director.
Wilson’s investment represents approximately 10% of the company’s share capital.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining Menzies Distribution as an investor and non-executive director.
“The company has a strong management team, great colleagues and serves important customers.”
Menzies said the development accelerated the momentum already seen at the company over recent months.

In September 2018, private equity investor Endless LLP acquired Menzies Distribution as part of the business’s separation from John Menzies PLC.
Aidan Robson, Endless partner, said: “The business continues to go from strength to strength and the acquisition of Bibby Distribution at the end of last year, coupled with recent highly relevant non-executive appointments, provide a great platform for the further growth and diversification of the Menzies group.”
