XPO Logistics has signed a“multi-million pound” contract with door manufacturer Door-Stop International.
The three year deal will see XPO move more than 10,000 doors for the Masonite group subsidiary.
The operator will provide an end-to-end service for Door-Stop, starting at the manufacturer’s Nottingham site.
Bulk deliveries will be made to XPO’s Rochester and Gloucester depots, after which two-man XPO teams will take doors out for delivery in a fleet of Door-Stop branded vans.
Efficiency is particularly important to the operation, as any door that arrives at the customer’s house late (maximum four days after ordering) is given to the customer free of charge.
Paul Conway, director of international logistics for Door-Stop International, said the new contract “supports Door-Stop's philosophy of supplying customer-specific products that are easy to buy, easy to sell and – critically – quick to obtain".
Dan Myers, MD transport solutions – UK and Ireland at XPO Logistics, said: “We're delighted to apply our knowledge and experience in this specific industry, together with our nationwide network, to deliver a solution that meets Door-Stop's distribution requirements both now and in the future."
