Fiveways

Hire firm Fiveways has taken delivery of the first of 10 dedicated food waste trucks ahead of the introduction of mandatory collections for all households in England.

The Terberg Orus RCV has been designed to collect organic materials and offers a leakproof watertight body, a smooth internal body and integral hydraulic bin-lift.

Emma Cheesman, Fiveways head of development, said: “The requirement for local authorities in England to provide separate, weekly food waste collections is likely to increase pressure on budgets which are often already stretched.

“Leasing dedicated food waste collection vehicles such as the Terberg Orus can provide a cost-effective solution in both the short and long term.

“This first vehicle will soon be servicing the residents of Lewisham and we expect high levels of demands as we take delivery of the remaining nine.”

Food waste collections are expected to be phased in across the country over the next couple of years.
