Nigel Cook, the current MD of County Durham-based Elddis Transport, has announced he’s stepping back from the business and will be replaced by company director Mark Rankin.
In a post on social media, the haulage boss said there would be changes to the haulier’s senior management structure and after 40 years in the business, he’d decided to take “a small step back” from some of the day-to-day running.
Cook said he would remain involved in Elddis Transport as executive chairman, but control of the company would be handed over to Rankin.
“Mark has been with Elddis for nearly 30 years and has been a director on the main board for almost 20 years of that time,” he said.
“During this period Mark and I have very much worked in conjunction with each other in fulfilling the role of MD, and as such the transition will be seamless.”
Elddis said the restructure of the Consett company also included commercial director Richard Toner taking on “a more expansive role” as business operations director and board member Tony Hogarth will become transport operations director while maintaining responsibility for its business core.
“Mark, Richard and Tony during their time as members of the board of directors have all played a key part in making Elddis what it is today,” he said.
“These changes are all part of our long-term strategy and succession planning that will take Elddis forward for the next period in its growth and development.”
