DPD has extended its partnership with Hinckley RFC in Leicestershire, providing financial backing for the club’s community sporting hub for the next three years.

The hub, at the club’s Leicester Road sports ground, delivers a community programme designed to break down barriers using sports and associated activities to benefit the people of Hinckley and its surrounding area.

DPD became established within the Hinckley area since the opening of its overnight sortation hub and the firm’s international gateway in Sketchley in 2015, followed by a second giant hub near junction 1 of the M69, which became fully operational in 2021.

Hinckley RFC’s initiative provides access to community sporting activities and supports school outreach programmes and local charity and wellbeing initiatives, with the aim of improving physical and mental wellbeing.

Justin Pegg, CEO of DPD UK, said: “The club plays a huge part in the local community in lots of ways, but the sporting hub has a key role in connecting the club with the town and makes such a difference to those that use the facilities.

“Our support will help the team to run more programmes and hopefully make a difference to more peoples’ lives.”
