DPD has started offering its new service Precise, which allows customers to select their own hour delivery slot.
The service, which DPD spoke to Motortransport.co.uk about at the beginning of the year, has been launched in conjunction with online fashion retailer Asos, whose customers are the only ones the new service is available to.
Precise customers will still receive a notification from DPD alerting them to their next-day delivery slot, but with the new service they will be able to change that assigned time to another of their choosing, to a slot between 11am and 5pm over the next seven.
DPD chief executive Dwain McDonald said: “We're focused on making parcel delivery as ‘personal' as possible by using the best technology available to put customers in complete control of their deliveries.
“Giving customers timely information they can really use and a great choice of delivery options is genuinely liberating," he added.
Matt Rogers, a spokesman for Asos, added: "Precise is another first for ASOS and a huge leap forward on our customer focused delivery proposition. Our customers love getting their deliveries quickly and tell us they want control and choice over how and when their parcels arrive. Precise gives them exactly that.”
The parcel carrier launched a customer app earlier this year, which allows its customers to set delivery preferences, change their parcels’ destinations and track their deliveries.
