Cross River Partnership is heading to Freight in the City Expo next week to share its collaborative approach to reducing the environmental impact of urban freight deliveries.
It will be highlighting some of the exciting projects it has been co-ordinating in the capital to tackle air quality hotspots.
The Clean Air Villages (CAV) project is a unique government-funded programme in its second year, supporting businesses to reduce emissions from deliveries of goods and services, whilst saving them time and money.
CAV is delivering freight-related solutions in 13 identified air pollution hotspots, across seven London boroughs.
Examples include the upcoming launch of London’s first shared electric vehicle for businesses, expanding cargo bike trials across the boroughs, and the creation of a supplier directory specifically showcasing local business who are delivering via foot, cargo bike, and electric or hybrid-petrol vehicles.
In addition, the Smart Electric Urban Logistics (SEUL) project has been developed in partnership with UPS, and UK Power Networks, creating ground-breaking new technology that overcomes the challenge of simultaneously recharging an entire fleet of electric vehicles without the need for an upgrade to the power supply grid.
Thanks to SEUL, UPS’s Camden depot now has the capacity to electrify and charge its entire central London fleet of 170 vehicles without further costly and disruptive physical grid reinforcements.
