XPO has renewed its partnership with the Tour de France for another six years, continuing its role as official carrier for the world famous competition, as well as the Tour de France Femmes with Zwift.

XPO has been the official transporter for the cycling competition for almost 45 years, handling the logistics of the competition and transporting the material and equipment essential to the event.

The contract includes handling barriers, podiums, arches, gantries, signage paint, prefabricated furniture for the villages, sound and video equipment, floats and goodies distributed by the race sponsors.

XPO compared managing the transport for the Tour de France to orchestrating a ballet, with everything having to be delivered within tight deadlines while negotiating everything from city centres and mountain passes – sometimes in extreme conditions.

In order to achieve this, the logistics company relies on an elite team of drivers that it carefully selects and trains.

The Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift are pursuing an increasingly eco-responsible organisational approach to the competitions and XPO said it was supporting this by decarbonising its transport connected with the Tour, through the use of biofuels and electric trucks.

Bruno Kloeckner, MD of XPO Logistics France, said: “This partnership renewal recognizes our expertise, our leadership and our ability to innovate.

“It’s a great satisfaction for our teams which, for more than 44 years, have mobilised on the road and behind the scenes to help ensure the success of these competitions, generating so much enthusiasm among the public.”

In addition to this partnership, XPO Logistics will also be the official carrier for other cycling events organized by A.S.O, including Paris-Nice, Paris-Nice Challenge, Paris-Roubaix and Paris-Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift.
