Steve Porter Transport Group has recruited Condor Logistics’ business development manager to oversee its strategic partnership with Meachers Global Logistics.
Julian Pedler has joined the partnership in a role that is jointly funded by Steve Porter Transport and Meachers, with an eye to developing other off-shore markets such as the Channel Islands.
The partnership itself was revealed in October, and sees the Isle of Wight haulier co-operating with Southampton’s Meachers on the delivery of inbound and outbound freight the island to the UK mainland.
At this time, both partners expressed ambitions to develop the scope of the partnership further, while retaining their independence.
Malcom Gibson, MD of Steve Porter Group, said of Pedler's appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Julian on board to manage the growth of the new partnership.
“Julian has a wealth of offshore experience and will undoubtedly be a great asset to the alliance as we look to develop and expand into new markets.”
Pedler said: "We have a fantastic offering that will appeal to a range of clients from supermarkets and retailers through to SMEs, indeed anyone with an offshore requirement."
Condor Logistics is in the process of being wound up, after the removal of Low Value Consignment Relief by the government made the Portsmouth-based company’s business no longer viable.
