City Link is to extend its relationship with postal service Secured Mail from mid-February to include mail items.
It already collects larger packets and parcels from businesses and the new collaboration allow it to extend the service.
Secured Mail accesses Royal Mail mail centres and collects its customer’s mail. It then transports the mail back to its own hubs for sorting and then distributed nationwide, using its own fleet of vehicles for ‘final mile’ delivery.
The partnership is something that City Link believes will particularly benefit SMEs.
City Link head of post Tony Bannister said: “Until now, downstream access within post services has tended to benefit the very large businesses due to volume discounts. We believe that this partnership will bring these benefits to all types of customers and so will be of particular interest to those in the SME market.”
Secured Mail chief executive Mark Bigley said: “By utilising the best bits of each company we will be able to focus on innovation in the postal industry, delivering excellent services to all businesses, including SMEs, across the UK.”
