Chris Grayling, Secretary of State for Transport

Chris Grayling has replaced Patrick McLoughlin as transport secretary.

McLoughlin had held the role since September 2012, but was replaced by Grayling as part of new prime minister Theresa May’s cabinet.

Grayling, who has been the MP for Epsom and Ewell since 2011, was the shadow transport secretary between 2005 and 2007.

Under former prime minister David Cameron’s leadership, Grayling served as the leader of the House of Commons and lord president of the council between May 2015 and July 2016.
