Ballyvesey Holdings has added to its road transport interest with the purchase of the the trade and assets of Heywood-based CFT Services.
Following the deal last month (28 June), CFT Services, which is a Pallet-Track member, will continue to operate from its depot in Green Lane.
However, it will now trade under the Birds Transport & Logistics name.
Ballyvesey bought Birds Groupage Services in February of this year, subsequently renaming it Birds Transport & Logistics. The company continues to be run separately of Montgomery Transport, which Ballyvesey also owns.
In a statement Ballyvesey said: “Ballyvesey is delighted to make this acquisition which provides Birds with a strategic location in the North-West of England in line with their future development plans.
“Robin Davies, MD of Birds Transport & Logistics and based at Oldbury, Birmingham will oversee the integration of the Heywood operation, supported by the loyal and competent staff and employees transferring from the CFT business.
“The company is confident the increase of this facility and these resources will further enhance the UK, Irish, European and Pallet-Track network services provided by the enlarged company.”
Vosa records show that CFT Services has held an O-licence for up to 50 vehicles and 80 trailers at its Heywood site. It has also held an O-licence for a second site in Wednesbury for 20 vehicles and 30 trailers, although it is not known if this location is included in the deal.
