APC Delivery network member Celtic Couriers is opening a new operational depot at Llangennech in South Wales in response to growing demand for its services from SMEs.

The launch follows a growth surge at the company over the past six months which Celtic Couriers and APC attribute to the “continued strength and resilience” of SME customers across the region.

The new depot provides 22,500sq ft of premium warehouse space - an increase of 14,500sq ft compared with the previous site.

The additional space allows the company to expand its overnight, same-day and international parcel collection and delivery service, which it offers to local businesses across the SA postcodes, and nationally via the APC network.

The new depot will also allow Celtic Couriers - part of the family-run Owens Group - to offer pallet and storage facilities, alongside a pick and pack service.

This latest venture is part of Celtic Couriers’ wider investment strategy which has also seen the company recently introduce six electric vans into its fleet to help cut emissions.

Jamie Howells, Celtic Couriers express deliveries group general manager, said: “There is no doubt that the last couple of years have proven challenging for many.

“But as a business we have remained committed to building for future growth, and the growth of our customers.

“As a local business that has been investing in the community for many years, we want to contribute positively to local businesses as they continue to adapt and build for their future, providing them with improved service options through our new depot.”

The company, which currently employs just under 50 staff, is also recruiting another five new staff across its delivery and warehouse teams in response to growing demand.

Howells added: “Investing in our staff has been critical to ensure the continued growth of business, whilst proudly maintaining our high standards of local knowledge and service, and supporting our customers through these unprecedented times of change.

“Our growing team, many of which have been with the business since it was established, have been, and will continue to be, pivotal to the future success of the business and that of our customers.”

Dervla Gallagher, APC network director said: “Across The APC network we are still seeing the strength of SMEs prevail as they respond to the turbulence of the last couple of years and continue to plan for the future.

“Throughout the network we have worked hard to navigate the changing habits of consumers and needs of our customers, and quickly shape our business to ensure we continue to provide a great service to our customers.

“Celtic Couriers’ success and investment for the future, is testament to the brilliant depot team who have worked so hard through these times of change.

“ It’s wonderful to see their ongoing efforts in the business and local community, both with the new depot and their drive to continually meet the evolving needs of their customers.”
