Essex-based Canute Group has bought its 12th warehouse site, a facility in Great Blakenham, Suffolk.
The development marks the 12th site to be added to Canute’s expanding portfolio of facilities throughout the UK, following the addition of the Coventry and Warrington depots.
Supporting the Port of Felixstowe, the 105,000ft² site will have up to 12,500 pallet spaces, small item picking and bulk stack areas.
David Emslie, Canute’s group sales director, says: "The location of the depot, with its close proximity to Felixstowe Port and the strategic links into the Canute transport network, will give the business an excellent opportunity to provide a wide range of competitive services for both warehouse and transport requirements.
The purchase comes as newly published accounts for Canute Haulage Group at Companies House reveal that in the year ended 31 July 2011 both turnover and operating profit increased.
Turnover in the full year climbed 7.4% to £76.7m (2010: £71.4m), while pre-tax profit was 18.5% higher at £2.5m (2010:£2.1m).
