Bosch Road Services has opened its first secure truck parking site in the UK, combining 180 HGV parking bays with high-power electric truck charging and digitally managed security at a new facility in Magna Park, near Lutterworth, Leicestershire.
Developed in partnership with Keoma Energy, the 22,500 square metre Electroway site opened this week (14 October) and is designed to address the shortage of secure HGV parking while supporting the transition to electric road freight.
The facility includes 32 400kW chargers, 78 CCTV cameras with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), controlled access and security designed to meet Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) Level 2 requirements. Driver facilities include a lounge, showers, laundry and a truck wash.
Bosch Road Services provides the digital booking, payment and site management technology, connecting drivers and fleet operators with secure parking and charging infrastructure. Electroway is the first UK location on its Bosch Secure Truck Parking platform to combine parking reservations with electric vehicle charging.
The platform offers access to more than 30,000 secure truck parking spaces across more than 600 parking areas in 12 European countries, including more than 50 UK sites. Drivers and operators can search and reserve spaces through a web portal, mobile app or integration with existing fleet and transport management systems (TMS).
Bookings can be incorporated into dispatch planning, with parking options selected according to location, route duration, departure time and drivers’ remaining driving hours. Real-time availability is intended to reduce time spent searching for parking, avoid unnecessary detours and help operators manage statutory driving and rest requirements.
Dr Jan-Philipp Weers, head of Bosch Road Services, said: “At its core, Bosch Road Services is a digital booking and payment platform committed to making truck parking and charging easy to manage across Europe.
“Electroway is a flagship project for us. It’s our first secure truck parking location in the United Kingdom and we hope to grow here in the future.
“We’re taking on the role of technical operator of the site, which means we’re directly providing the access control hardware, the security technology, and the software interaction.
“Beyond the technology, this project is about people. Our goal is to provide drivers with the safe, dignified environment they deserve, while giving operators the peace of mind that their cargo is secure.
“With our partners, we are making road logistics safer and supporting the resilience of UK supply chains.”
Bosch Service Solutions worked with its UK fire and security business, Protec Fire and Security Group, to develop the site’s integrated security and management systems. These include video surveillance, fire detection, ANPR, turnstiles and QR-code access, with remote monitoring available 24 hours a day.
The investment comes amid continuing concerns over cargo crime and the availability of safe overnight parking. According to the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS), there were nine incidents of HGV-related crime a day in 2025, with thefts involving curtain-slashing accounting for 27% of thefts from trailers. The combined losses associated with HGV and cargo crime were estimated at £65.1m.
Electroway also adds charging capacity for electric HGVs in the Midlands’ Golden Triangle, a major logistics hub close to the A5, M1 and M6.
Bosch said manufacturer-independent energy consumption forecasts can help operators plan electric truck journeys, estimate energy requirements and incorporate charging stops into routes.
The platform also provides consolidated monthly invoicing, giving fleet operators an overview of parking bookings and transactions.
Bosch Secure Truck Parking can be integrated into existing fleet and transport management systems through Bosch L.OS, the company’s open logistics operating system.
The company said Electroway represents a step towards combining secure parking, digital fleet planning and electric truck charging within a single logistics service.
