Pet food distribution specialist Earl Transport has taken delivery of six T520 High 6x2 pusher tractor units following “trouble-free” experiences with the model since 2018.
Supplied by JDS Truck and Van the new vehicles replace four 19 and two 69 plated T Highs and will be put into service with one of Earl Transport’s major customers delivering pet food to the grocery trade across the UK.
The new T Highs join Earl Transport’s 22-strong mixed fleet on a Renault Trucks Financial Services operating lease and with a full Renault Trucks repair and maintenance contract.
The 13 litre T520 Highs with high sleeper cabs are fitted with the Optidriver AT 2612F gearbox with automatic clutch providing a maximum torque of 2550 Nm.
The vehicles have been specified with Alcoa Dura-Bright aluminium wheels, fixed roof deflector and side deflectors as well as a 5-year Optivision subscription.
They also come with a fridge, microwave and multimedia touchscreen upper bunk that can be transformed into extra storage. It also has air conditioning.
The T High has been a top choice for Earl Transport since the introduction of a flagship model to the fleet in 2018, according to MD Peter Hughes.

He said: “I wanted something unique, something spacious and luxurious to celebrate our company’s 40th anniversary back in 2018 and the T High, with its top of the range spec, was just that vehicle.
“Since then, we haven’t looked back; we’ve had six further T Highs and now we are replacing them with the same model. Our experience of the T High has been outstanding, not only are they are very impressive looking, they’ve been trouble-free too.”
Hughes also praised Renault Trucks dealer JDS Truck and Van. “Their service is exceptional, and the staff attitude is fantastic. They are always ready to help and will get something sorted; they have never, ever let me down,” he said.
Hughes said driver satisfaction was a “significant consideration” for the company, with the T-High’s top spec an essential tool for retaining drivers.
He said: “I like to look after my drivers, they are the beating heart of the business. The vehicles are tramping, and the drivers are out most nights of the week.
“The cabs have been much improved, and I like to think if I was a driver that’s what I’d want in a truck, so I fit them out with extras like microwaves and fridges. Consequently, driver acceptability of the T High is exceptional; they think they are great trucks.”
He added: “Fuel consumption is good too; we are getting top 9 early 10 mpg, so I am very happy with that. I really can’t say a wrong word about the T Highs, they are a superb addition to our fleet.”
