Chiltern Transport (1)

Palletforce has recruited Chiltern Transport to its fold, covering the LU postcodes around Luton, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard.

The Pitstone, Bucks-based haulage firm was founded in 1989 by Keith Croker and started out as a freight forwarder.

It began operating its own fleet and warehouse in 2005 and joined a pallet network for the first time in 2005.

It has a licence authorising 21 HGVs and 19 trailers.

Iain Hamilton, Chiltern’s operations director, said: “In order to grow our business further and secure the best service levels for our customers, we were looking for a progressive network with a first-class membership and proven track record of investment and service, and Palletforce was the obvious choice.

“The fact we are able to concentrate solely on one postcode area, as opposed to three previously, is also a major factor, as it means we can work with greater efficiency and sustainability going forward.”

The move came just a few weeks after Palletforce announced it had added Halesowen-based Adam Jones Group to the network to cover the Dudley DY postcodes.

At the end of last year, the pallet network said chief executive Adam Leonard had departed the business, just four months after taking over the role from Michael Conroy.
