Mick Masters, founder of Bedfordshire haulier Miniclipper Logistics, has died age 83.
Daughter-in-law Jayne Masters paid tribute to 'legend' Mick: "We have sad news to share with our colleagues, customers, and suppliers, many of whom have known our management team for years. The inevitable day arrived last week, when Mick Masters, founder of Miniclipper Logistics, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He had just had his 83rd birthday.
"He started Miniclipper with one van in 1971 and went on to be MD and latterly chairman until he retired in 2005. He suffered from dementia and Alzheimer’s for a very long time, but we managed to celebrate our 50th year of operation a couple of years early so that he could attend before his decline in health.
"To his son Peter, managing director, he was a great dad and a mentor throughout the years. Without his personality, hard slog, and massive sacrifices in the early years there would be no Miniclipper, and he has certainly left a legacy that will go on, now employing almost 150 people locally."
