Isuzu Truck UK has strengthened its South West dealer coverage with the appointment of Yeovil-based SMV Commercials as an authorised Isuzu truck repairer.
This latest deal is part of a wider expansion drive by the manufacturer which saw it add RH Commercial Vehicles' (RHCV) Newark facility to its truck dealer network in May this year, just eight months after appointing RHVC as its Northampton dealer.
SMV Commercials, which was launched in 1981, employs over 40 staff at its 2.5-acre site, located just off the A303 in south Somerset. The company operates an 11-bay workshop, two mobile service vans, a parts store and an ATF lane, as well as providing customers with tachograph calibration facilities.
Announcing the appointment, Pete Murphy, MD at Isuzu Truck UK said: “The addition of such an experienced company as SMV Commercials is strategically important to Isuzu Truck and its customers in the south west, enhancing even further our well established aftersales coverage in this area.”
He added: “The Isuzu truck parc in the South West is one of the biggest in the UK and continues to grow year on year. We felt it was essential for us to further strengthen our dealer presence in the area and we are really pleased that SMV Commercials are now part of our nationwide dealer network support."
SMV Commercials' Stephen Goss (pictured) added: “At SMV, we have a 200-strong fleet of long-term and short-term rental vehicles and recently we expanded the fleet with a considerable number of Isuzu Grafter 3.5-tonne trucks with a mix of bodies from tippers and dropsides to refrigerated bodies.
“As a result of the much closer working relationship that developed between us and ITUK, this led to our appointment as an authorised repairer.”
Goss continued: “This appointment is part of our plans to expand our business portfolio and we look forward to working closely with our nearest full ITUK truck dealer AK Commercials to provide both new and existing customers with even higher levels of after sales service in the area.”
