UK manufacturer Tevva has revealed its latest vehicle - the all-electric 7.5 tonne Tevva Truck - at the Freight in the City Expo today (28 September) in London.
The British-designed battery electric vehicle (BEV) is Tevva's third generation vehicle and is on show at Stand VO6 at the Freight in the City Expo at London's Alexandra Palace today.
The newly launched truck has a range of up to 160 miles, which can be extended to 310 miles with Tevva's hydrogen fuel cell-powered range extender technology (REX). It can carry up to 16 euro pallets and over two tonnes payload at 7.5-tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
The manufacturer said the total cost of ownership is comparable to a diesel, with parity achieved at approximately 3,000 km, or when 500 litres of diesel is consumed per month.
Tevva is also in the process of developing technology that will enable the Tevva Truck to be fully charged in just one hour, which will allow double shift operations and help further reduce the total cost of ownership.
The Tevva Truck will be in production from July next year. Pre-orders can be made from today with the first deliveries expected in Q3 2022.
The 7.5-tonne model is the first of a series of electric trucks Tevva plans to manufacture in the UK, which will include a range of BEV and hydrogen fuel cell models up to 19.5 tonnes, aimed at the UK, European, and Middle Eastern markets.
The company said the vehicle is the result of seven years of engineering development and over 200,000 miles of in-fleet trials. It calculates that the Tevva Truck will reduce global CO2 emissions by 10m tonnes by the end of 2030, the equivalent of taking 1 million cars off the road.

The Tevva Truck was engineered by a team that includes Ken Scott, former engineering director at both Bentley and Alexander Dennis, and was styled by Dale Grewer, former chief designer at Jaguar Land Rover and will be built in a 11,000m sq manufacturing plant in the London Thames Freeport area, to ensure rapid links to Central London and Europe.
The company said the manufacturing facility is expected to create an additional 1,000 skilled mechanical, software, engineering, and manufacturing jobs in the next 24 months, adding to the 60 plus jobs already created this year.
