Fowler Welch has announced an agreement to take over Evesham-based AIM Logistics from today (4 May 2021) for an undisclosed sum.

The terms of the agreement, including consideration, were also undisclosed.

AIM Logistics specialises in the distribution of temperature-controlled products to retailers across the UK.

Fowler Welch, which was acquired by Culina Group last June for £98m, said it had 'significantly strengthened its market-leading position with the acquisition and that it would provide 'investment, job security and an entrepreneurial spirit, which will take the business to the next level'.

Commented Fowler Welch chief executive John Kerrigan: “This acquisition represents an extremely positive step for Fowler Welch and is a perfect fit with the rest of our network. Establishing a geographical presence in this key produce-growing region of the UK will enable us to achieve greater synergies and add value to both our mutual and prospective customers as a result.”

Added Culina Group chief executive Thomas van Mourik: “Fowler Welch and AIM Logistics are two organisations with strong reputations in the industry. This acquisition is an excellent fit which will be great for both staff and clients of both businesses.”

In an interview to be published in the 10 May edition of MT, Van Mourik said Culina Group was "now injecting investment and funds into Fowler Welch that will make it, over the next two years, of equal size, importance and profitability to Culina Logistics, but with a different market proposition. That's fantastic."

Fowler Welch said it would finalise the details of the acquisition in the coming weeks. Its primary aim, it added, would be 'to ensure that all current and prospective customers continue to benefit from market-leading levels of service'.
