HGV drivers are being invited to give anonymous feedback about their delivery experience to city construction sites via the CLOCS Vox app in a bid to improve the efficiency of site deliveries and help cut road casualties.

The free app, developed by Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS), has being trialled by principal contractors in London and Manchester, including Bowmer & Kirkland, Sir Robert McAlpine, Tideway, Lendlease and Willmott Dixon, and is now available for HGV drivers to download.

CLOCS Vox app aims to prevent poorly scheduled deliveries, inefficient processing and poor ground conditions which can delay drivers and result in trucks circling and idling. This contributes to poor air quality and can put pedestrians and cyclists at risk.

Drivers use the app to report on five key areas. These include whether the delivery was accepted or refused; clarity of ‘last mile’ route and instructions; whether they arrived and left as scheduled; the fairness and efficiency of the gate team; and ground conditions including access for low-entry cabs.

CLOCS Vox data is provided by CLOCS partner, the Considerate Constructors Scheme with over 3,000 registered sites pre-loaded, making it easy for drivers to leave feedback for the site they are delivering to.

Contractors receiving driver feedback on their projects will have access to an online dashboard where they can review the data so they can address any issues on site.

CLOCS programme director, Andy Brooke said: “We’ve been trialling CLOCS Vox across London and Manchester with great success. It is quick and easy to use – simply select a site from the drop-down menu and leave your feedback on the five areas shown.

“I urge all fleet operators to encourage their drivers to download the CLOCS Vox app. It takes less than a minute to use at the gate and should help sites understand where things can be improved for all fleet operators servicing construction projects.
