Driver Hire is enabling existing HGV drivers to advance their career by helping them requalify up to a C+E licence.

The new service provides face-to-face training as well as a platform for professional drivers to gain the skills they need quickly and easily, so that they can boost their earnings potential.

Driver Hire said that as well as connecting drivers to the most suitable learning centres near them, the service will also offer users finance options to spread the cost of the training programmes.

It offers candidates the chance to complete courses including Cat C1, Cat C+E, ADR and HIAB.

The agency said government figures showed that there were 18,500 fewer HGV test passes in 2020 as a result of examinations being halted due to the pandemic, meaning that there was now a significant demand for new drivers.

John Keelan-Edwards, Driver Hire Training MD, said: “It has been a challenging and unpredictable year for the industry, but we are delighted to be seeing an increase in demand for qualified drivers across all sectors.

“The launch of our licence acquisition service is part of our goal to become an industry leader for HGV training and will advance career opportunities for many drivers across the country.”
