The transportation and storage industry had a rate of fatal injury around twice the average across all industries, according to new figures from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The average rate of non-fatal injuries between 2012/13 and 2019/20 was 2.7% in road haulage; 2.9% in warehousing and 3.4% in post and courier work. The average across all industries was 1.9%. B Taylor & Sons in Nottinghamshire increased revenues by almost 2% before the coronavirus pandemic struck last year, but pre-tax profit dropped by 44.7%.
Food transport provider Nagel Langdons increased revenues by 7% to £160.9m in the year ending 31 December 2019.
Knowles Transport faced down “one of the most challenging periods” ever faced by the industry to report a 24% increase in pre-tax profits last year.
