Delays to the construction of a road linking a new motorway junction with a major distribution centre is reportedly forcing thousands of HGV drivers to clog up a local A road.
The £50m junction on the M49 at Avonmouth was completed over eight months ago and is due to connect to a DC housing companies including Amazon, Royal Mail, Tesco, Lidl, Next, DHL and The Range.
However, it is understood drivers using the junction would reach a dead end from which they could see the warehouses but not be able to drive to them.
When opened, the junction will be the only one on the M49, which links the M5 at Avonmouth with the Prince of Wales Bridge crossing the River Severn.
The junction was built by Highways England who are said to be working with developers and South Gloucestershire Council to resolve the issue.
