The number of job adverts for HGV drivers fell by 7.4% last week, a reduction only surpassed by dental nurses, according to figures from the recruitment and employment confederation (REC). D4Drivers is offering D4 medicals for HGV drivers from this week at 30 centres across the UK. The company’s sister organisation Summerfield Healthcare is also offering antibody blood tests to transport operators, with results supplied within three days.
Haulage bosses from six fuel distribution firms are due to resume talks with the Unite union this morning (10 April) following the Easter weekend. Conciliation service Acas is leading the discussions, which kicked off last Wednesday (4 April) and continued for two days, over tanker drivers’ training, safety and employment conditions.
