Wincanton has won a three-year renewal with long-term customer Asda to provide transport and warehousing. It will see a continuation of operations at four key Asda sites in Doncaster, Larne, Rochdale and Wigan, covering frozen, chilled and ambient grocery, and general merchandise nationwide. The chief executive of Wincanton does not expect a wave of consolidation in the UK road transport sector, arguing that recent high-profile acquisitions have been standalone deals rather than part of a trend.
