BSH Home Appliances – owner of the Bosch, Gaggenau, Neff and Siemens brands – is to open a new national DC at Midlands Logistics Park in Corby.
The £89.3m project will be funded by specialist warehouse investor Tritax Big Box. It will see the construction of a cross-docked warehouse with an internal floor space of 945,000ft².
BSH has signed up for a 10-year lease, which will begin once the warehouse is complete in Autumn 2019.
The new facility will have an eaves height of 15 metres and is adjacent to an Eddie Stobart depot. There is direct access to the A43 dual carriageway which leads to the M1 motorway.
Overall Midlands Logistics Park could accommodate five million ft² and includes a 500-metre rail siding and yard for a potential future connection to the rail network.
The BSH funding deal follows Tritax’s announcement of a new £68.7m logistics sortation centre at Haydock in Merseyside (pictured).
This, it said, has been pre-let to a “financially robust world leading retailer”, thought to be Amazon.
The 360,000ft² facility, which has docking on three sides and an eaves height of 12 metres, will have access to the M6 and the Liverpool 2 container port via the A580.
Development is being undertaken by logistics property company Bericote and will form part of a 1.4 million ft² logistics park.
Once complete, the building will be let on a 15-year lease.
