Marks & Spencer is to try out a liquid nitrogen-powered transport refrigeration unit (TRU) on one of its semi-trailers as part of its CO2-reduction strategy. The zero-emission TRU, designed by clean cold technology firm Dearman, uses a liquid nitrogen-powered engine to operate the refrigeration system. Gist and long-term customer Marks & Spencer have signed a 12 year extension to their warehousing and distribution partnership, with the first year of the contract estimated to be worth circa £300m.
