Delegates will hear an update on the government's £20m Low Emission Freight and Logistics Trials at the Microlise Transport Conference.
A talk from Innovate UK will outline developments from the programme, which runs projects on electric commercial vehicles and hydrogen hybrids, and what the future holds for them.
Venn Chesterton, Innovate UK's ultra low emission vehicle lead, will tell delegates about the latest technologies in this field and discuss how seemingly futuristic technologies could rolled out to industry sooner than expected.
Chesterton said: “Over 200 alternatively fuelled vehicles are participating in this trial
“The aim is to demonstrate new technologies and to encourage the widespread introduction of low and zero emission vehicles to UK fleets.
"Significant progress will have been made by May and I hope to be able to share many interesting insights with the audience at the conference.”
Microlise executive director Bob Harbey said that innovation will be at the heart of the event on 16 May, and the conference will boast a new innovation zone.
Harbey added: "With significant government policy shifts underway, including the introduction of Clean Air Zones in many urban locations, the transport industry needs to stay up to date with the latest advances, particularly those reducing emissions and minimising environmental impact.”
Other confirmed speakers for the event at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, include new senior traffic commissioner Richard Turfitt and representatives from Arrival and Royal Mail to discuss their electric vehicle trial in London.
