Argos is planning to close its Magna Park site in Lutterworth and transfer most of the site’s operations to a Wincanton DC in Kettering. The move will see up to 500 warehouse and distribution workers outsourced to Wincanton by December this year. Wincanton has announced plans to trial a new fleet of remotely controlled trucks as part of a drive to lower emissions and fuel costs.
City Link failed to turn a profit on Friday posting a pre-tax loss of £26.4m while turnover for the year was up 4.8% to £321.7m. Rentokil was disappointed and said the “financial performance in the year was behind our initial expectations”.
