Framptons Transport Services was in rude financial health when it was acquired by Gregory Distribution earlier this year, according to its most recent filing at Companies House.

For the financial year ending 28 June turnover had risen from £16.9m to £17.8m, while pre-tax profit rose to approximately £1m, from £601,812. Average employee numbers also rose year-on-year to 251, from 236.

The Somerset-based haulier was bought by Gregory Distribution on 9 April and has continued to trade under the Framptons brand as a division of Gregory. The directors’ report said that Framptons would be fully integrated into Gregory in the coming year.

“This acquisition secured the future of the business and employees, and will provide more opportunity for investment to support existing and new customers,” the report said. “The business is therefore expected to grow within the Gregory group.”
