Transervice Express Transport has joined forces with RHA and Jobcentre Plus to help roll out a nationwide work experience scheme aimed at tackling the driver shortage crisis. The proposed congestion charge on HGVs using the Port of Dover has been rebutted by Dover Council on the grounds that air quality in the town was improving.
Ministers have agreed that charging operators working in urban areas should be a “last resort”, after four of the industry’s leading trade associations spoke to MPs about preventing HGVs from being priced out of operating in cities.
A website for operators keen to swap or acquire rights to operate longer semi-trailers has been launched by the RHA. The longer semi-trailer permit exchange information board is free to use, and is non-profit making.
