Hermes opened its 160,000ft² Warrington hub last week, which is capable of handing 550,000 parcels per day. The £14m hub will help the operator expand its next-day and international delivery services, as well as increase capacity for the Christmas peak. XPO Logistics has been awarded the contract to manage a new fulfilment centre in Lichfield, Staffordshire for online fashion retailer ASOS.
Hermes has won Poundland’s new home delivery contract, after the single-priced retailer said it planned to trial an online shopping system earlier this week.
Hermes has slashed its CO2 output by 6% in the past year, with the business achieving savings of 18.4% since 2008. The parcels firm has set itself a target of a 20% reduction by 2015.
