Maltby, South Yorkshire-based Green Group has left UK Pallets for Pall-Ex and will cover part of the S and part of the DN postcode areas.
Green Group said Pall-Ex’s Twine IT system had been a significant factor in its decision to move. It believes it will help it deliver the best service possible.
Last week Green Group revealed it had ordered 50 Euro-6 Mercedes-Benz Actros units to be supplied by Northside Truck & Van. The first will enter service in March.
Green Group took delivery of 30 Euro-5 Actros units last summer and by the end of this year all but 10 of its 90 trucks will wear the three-pointed star.
Assistant MD Rebecca Wharmsby said: “Our Euro-5 Actros units are typically returning between 9mpg and 9.5mpg fully freighted, which puts them 1.5mpg ahead of the vehicles they’ve replaced. Given that each unit averages 160,000 miles a year, a fuel saving of that magnitude is worth a lot of money.”
