Acumen Distribution has grown its fleet of longer semi-trailers from four to 18 15.65m units. The RHA is calling on the government to support the haulage industry after 6,500 responses within 36 hours to a survey of hauliers showed that 46% of the UK truck fleet – around 240,000 vehicles – is now parked up with no work.
The Cabinet Office has been reprimanded by the UK Statistics Authority for using unpublished and unverifiable data to refute RHA’s claims last month that export volumes plummeted by 68% in January, after the UK’s exit from the European Single Market.
The current suspension of the London Lorry Control Scheme should be extended with a view to either reforming it or abolishing it altogether, the RHA said this week.
