The 2014 CV Show is close to being a sell out, with less than six months to go before the show takes place at Birmingham’s NEC on 29 April to 1 May.

There is only 6% of space left in halls 3A, 4 and 5 and, with 290 exhibitors already booked, the show’s organisers believe the level of interest clearly indicates “for the UK road freight industry and its myriad ancillary providers and suppliers, business is definitely on the up”.

While exhibitor numbers are up 26% on the same time if 2013, actual space occupied is 17% greater, reflecting the return of many smaller exhibitors to the show for the first time since 2008.

Vehicle manufacturers will also be well represented, however, with MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Iveco, Ford, Vauxhall, Nissan, Fiat and Isuzu all booking stands. Volvo cancelled its stand at the end of October. A spokeswoman for the Swedish manufacturer said: "After discussions with our network we have decided that we will focus our 2014 marketing programme on local activities with operators, offering more opportunity for them to fully test our new range of Euro-6 trucks."

Body and trailer builders will also be there in numbers, including Cartwright, Lawrence David, Montracon, SDC Trailers, SOMI Trailers and Whale Tankers.

The Cool Pavilion – which returned to the show in 2013 – is also proving popular with exhibitors such as Gray & Adams, Paneltex, Quinn and Solomon Commercials, Frigoblock and Thermo King already occupying 60% of the space in this area dedicated to temperature controlled transport.
