Yodel has launched its first collection and delivery service aimed at small businesses and consumers to meet demand. The service, called YodelDirect, will offer SMEs and consumers the opportunity to arrange for a courier to pick up their parcel from their home or office for delivery across the UK. Retail deliveries for same day courier CitySprint doubled over the Christmas peak, in comparison to 2011’s figures. The Barclay brothers, Sir David and Sir Frederick, owners of parcel giant Yodel, remain the richest men involved in road transport with a fortune of £2.2bn. Alastair Salvesen and family are second.
