DHL Supply Chain has won a £14 million contract renewal with Travis Perkins Group, which will see it handle 160,000 deliveries per year.

The three and a half year contract extension will see the firm manage national transport operations from the builders merchant's Northampton DC, moving 20,000 loads annually.

It will transport goods for the group’s retailers, including Wickes, Tile Giant, City Plumbing Supplies, City Heating Spares and Toolstation, to 1,000 branches nationwide.

DHL has worked with Travis Perkins for over 20 years and aims to reduce operating costs by £900,000 by improving load fill, using backhauling and shared loads. It also hopes to improve transport visibility by managing a control centre.

DHL Supply Chain vice-president of business development retail, Dean Wyatt, said: “The new contract is testament to our customer commitment and in-depth understanding of the business’ needs. As a result, we have developed a strategy which we’re confident we will transform and streamline Travis Perkins’ current transport operations.”
